Apple season is upon us and therefore we all need an easy but delicious apple recipe for the Instant Pot. This one delivers!
First of all, this COULD NOT be any easier. You throw the streusel together in a bowl – and you can use whatever ingredients you would like. Don’t like walnuts? Use hazelnuts! Don’t have any raisins, or only have yellow ones? Use what YOU like. Just make sure you have some sweet in there – in place of the brown sugar, you could use coconut sugar or cut up dates or even maple syrup.
You do need to use a nice firm apple that won’t fall apart under pressure. I used organic Honey Crisps! They were perfect for this recipe.
Wash and then cut out the core of the apples, not cutting all the way to the bottom. I used a small knife but you could also use a melon baller.
Fill the cavity with the streusel and then put the apples right in the bottom of the liner of your cooker. Put in the 1/4 cup of water…yes, you ONLY need this much when you cook with apples as they are very moist themselves!
Cook for three minutes and then let the pot have a natural pressure release of around ten minutes. If you are using a softer apple, release the pressure earlier so that you don’t have apple mush.
Use a delicious caramel topping to drizzle over your finished apples, and serve, maybe with a little whipped cream, too? Your call.
This is a super easy recipe. Share this one with someone who is scared of their new electric pressure cooker!

- Mix the streusel ingredients together in a bowl.
- Use a firm apple that can withstand some pressure - like Honeycrisp. Wash well, and then core almost to the bottom, but not quite. Fill the cavity you have created with the streusel topping. Top with a pat of butter.
- Put stuffed apples into the bottom of the liner of the Instant Pot. Put in 1/4 cup of water, and if you have any extra streusel, you can sprinkle that in, too. Lock on you lid and set to sealing. Cook on high manual/pressure cook for 3 minutes. Allow for a natural pressure release of @10 minutes. Serve with the caramel sauce drizzled over the top.
